Privacy Policy

Overview

g Converter is designed with privacy as a core principle. All conversions happen locally on your device, and the app does not connect to our servers unless you have entered a Pro license key. The only personal information involved is what is needed to sell and activate the optional Pro upgrade, described below.

Data We Do Not Collect

• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Conversion history or input values
• Location data
• Crash reports sent to third parties

Local Storage

g Converter stores your preferences (theme, font size, accent color, last-used unit, and more) locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.

Your free trial start date is kept in the macOS Keychain. If you unlock Pro, your license key, the email address it was issued to, and a randomly generated device identifier are stored in the Keychain as well.

Purchases and License Keys

The Pro upgrade is sold through our payment provider, Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), which acts as the Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes your payment details, name, billing address, and email address in accordance with Paddle's Privacy Policy. We never receive or store your payment card information. We receive your email address and the transaction ID so that we can issue your license key, and we use an email delivery service (Resend) to send the key to you.

License Activation Check

When you enter a license key, and each time g Converter launches with Pro unlocked, the app sends the key and its random device identifier to our server to check how many Macs a license is active on. The key encodes the email address it was issued to, so that address is part of the request, but our server does not store it. We store only a one-way hash (SHA-256) of the key together with the device identifiers, and use them solely to enforce the device limit. If our server cannot be reached, g Converter keeps working. You can ask us to delete this data by contacting support.

Website

g Converter is distributed as a direct download from this website. The website does not use analytics or advertising trackers; it stores only your light/dark theme preference in your browser. It is hosted on Vercel, which may process standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages. On pages where checkout is available, Paddle's checkout script is loaded and may collect information as described in Paddle's Privacy Policy.
